Tasked with transforming a tight space into a multifunctional family garden, we made every square metre work. Pleached white champaca form a shallow screen along the boundary, maximising privacy from neighbours while allowing for loose, layered planting underneath to promote play and discovery. The emphasis is on the inside/outside relationship, with the kitchen and dining room opening directly out to the rear courtyard. Materials of sandstone, limestone and hardwood will patina and settle into place over time.
